The Bonavita BV382510V Gooseneck Kettle is one of the best introductory gooseneck kettles on the market. We’ve seen it used in coffee shops, offices, and dorm rooms. It’s incredibly versatile and can be used for anything from pour-over coffee to making ramen. And it’s electric, to boot, so you can easily plug it in anywhere you have a standard outlet.
One of the best aspects of the Bonavita BV382510V Gooseneck Kettle is its temperature selectability. You can pick any Fahrenheit temperature from 140 to 212 F in one-degree increments. Having control over temperature makes this the perfect kettle for brewing craft coffee where every degree matters. We love that we can brew for AeroPress at a lower temperature (175 F), then immediately switch to a pour-over (205F) or a black tea (210 F) without having to constantly check the temperature manually.
Another great feature of the Bonavita BV382510V Gooseneck Kettle is its ability to hold a specific temperature. Once you’ve set the temperature, simply press the Hold button and lock in that temperature for up to 60 minutes. Gone are the days of over-heating your water and having to wait for it to come down to your desired temperature!

Overall Score: 4.1/5
-
Quality: 4.2/5
This Bonavita gooseneck kettle is make of high-quality stainless steel, but features quite a bit of black plastic. Overall, we find the quality to be inline with other great Bonavita products.
-
Value: 4.4/5
For the money, this is a great gooseneck kettle. Ours is still kicking after nearly five years!
-
Style: 3.9/5
The style of the gooseneck kettle isn’t our favorite; while we love the stainless steel look and the curvature of the gooseneck spout, the black plastic looks somewhat cheap. We wish they’d adopt some of the aesthetics of kettles like the Stagg from Fellow.
-
Size: 3.9/5
The kettle and base are kind of an awkward shape, making less-than ideal to efficiently store it in the cupboard. However, the capacity of the Bonavita BV382510V Gooseneck Kettle is perfect in our opinion. The kettle can heat up to 1 liter of water at a time. There is also an upgrade available where you can get a 1.7 liter model instead.
Pros
- Large capacity – The 1.0L capacity of the kettle is perfect for larger brew sizes like Chemex or smaller amounts of coffee like a Hario V60.
- Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion – Every kettle comes standard with a button to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius and back again.
- Holding temperatures – Temperatures can be held for up to 60 minutes before the kettle shuts off.
- Multiple, preprogramed setpoints – The kettle comes preprogrammed with a number of common brewing temperatures. This makes switching temperatures incredibly easy.
- Fully electric – The Bonavita gooseneck kettle is fully electric making it very portable and easy to set up and tear down in no time at all.
Cons
- Bulky – We feel that the kettle is pretty bulk when it’s on the heating base, so it can’t be stored in a cabinet without wasting quite a bit of space.
- Scale buildup – Over time, if your water is hard, scale will begin to build up inside of your kettle. This is normal, but the scale will also build up on the temperature probe, causing erroneous temperature reads. This can be pretty easily fixed by descaling, but is a bit of a pain.
Features
The Bonavita BV382510V Gooseneck Kettle comes packed with features that make it our kettle of choice for brewing coffee or tea at home.
Temperature selectability
There are lots of kettles on the market. Many are electric. But very few offer the ability to select a specific temperature down to a single degree. The Bonavita gooseneck kettle is different; it offers temperature adjustability in one degree increments from 140°-212°F. You can use this adjustability to turn your coffee-making routine from an art into a science.
Multiple temperature setpoints
One of the coolest (hottest?) things about this kettle is its temperature presets. When you turn on the kettle, you can cycle through six different factory preset temperatures. This makes repeatedly selecting a temperature very easy. The factory preset temperatures are 60°C (140°F), 80°C (176°F), 85°C (185°F), 88°C (190°F), 96°C (205°F) and 98°C (208°F). The factory default temperature is 185°F (85°C).
An added benefit is that these presets aren’t set in stone. They can be adjusted and stored so you have all your favorite temperature profiles at the touch of a button. Trust us, this will save you a lot of time.
Hold functionality
The kettle has a button on the control panel for holding a specific temperature setpoint. This comes in handy for anyone who likes to step out of the kitchen while your water is boiling. As the old saying goes, a watched pot never boils.
Temperature conversion
Often, you’ll come across coffee or tea preparation instructions from across the pond where Celsius is used regularly. You’ll never again have to pull out a calculator and convert Celsius to Fahrenheit. This Bonavita gooseneck kettle comes with a button to toggle between the two temperature scales.
Gooseneck spout
One of the best features of this kettle is its gooseneck spout. These types of spouts, named after the curvature of a goose’s neck, are perfect for pouring anything from a full stream to a slight dribble. This allows for the ultimate control over your pour-over coffee. We prefer gooseneck kettles to regular kettles because of this increased control.
Portable electric base
The base of the kettle contains an induction coil that enables rapid heating of water. Because the base is plastic, it’s incredibly lightweight and therefore portable. We like to take our kettle on the road to craft delicious pour-over anywhere we go.
Power cord storage
Another great feature that contributes to this kettle’s portability is its power cord storage. The power cord wraps underneath the base so that it can easily be stowed for travel. We also love this feature because you can adjust how long the power cable is so you don’t have a mess of cables behind your coffee corner.
Touch-safe kettle base
As we mentioned before, the kettle is heated using an induction coil. Because of this, Bonavita is able to add insulation to the base of the kettle and make it touch-safe even when the kettle is piping hot. This means you can set your kettle anywhere without a risk of melting or burning what you set it on.
Multiple capacity options
The standard size for this kettle is 1 liter. We think this is more than enough capacity for normal coffee and tea brewing needs. However, if you’re in need of something larger, Bonavita also offers a 1.7 liter gooseneck kettle.
Using the Kettle
Using the Bonavita BV382510V Gooseneck Kettle is very intuitive. After filling the kettle with water, press the on/off button to turn on the kettle. Use the plus/minus buttons to raise or lower the temperature. Once you’ve chosen your desired temperature, press the hold button to lock the temperature in and hold it for up to 60 minutes. When you’re done using the kettle, be sure to press the off button to turn it back off, especially after you’ve emptied the water.
Cleaning and Maintenance
We seldom have to clean our Bonavita BV382510V Gooseneck Kettle. The only cleaning we ever have to do is occasionally wipe down the stainless steel with a nonabrasive cloth to remove coffee oils that may have splashed up during brewing.
As for maintenance, if your water is hard you will have to descale the kettle occasionally. This process isn’t very difficult and is clearly outlined in the kettle’s manual. It’s important to descale the kettle when you begin to see white minerals buildup inside. These minerals will gradually coat the temperature sensors and lead to incorrect temperature readings.
Summary
We absolutely love the Bonavita BV382510V Gooseneck Kettle. From its temperature adjustment to its perfectly-shaped, gooseneck spout, this kettle is a great electric kettle for the money. Our kettle is still going strong after five years and we’re looking forward to using it for the next five years. If you’re looking for a great starter electric kettle, look no further than the Bonavita BV382510V Gooseneck Kettle.

Chemex natural coffee filters, square – A coffee brewer is not complete without coffee filters. The Chemex is no exception. We like to use the square coffee filters because we find that they clean up easier. The natural fiber that makes these filters is bleach-free, so you can rest assured you’re not consuming nasty chemicals.
- Step 1: Place the funnel in the top portion of the CHEMEX coffeemaker, with 3 layers on the groove side. The groove is an air vent (and also the pouring spout) and allows air to escape from the lower portion of the coffeemaker, letting the coffee filter
- Step 2: Put coffee in the filter paper cone. Use one heaping tablespoon per cup of coffee (adjust to personal taste if needed after first brew). Refer to brewing instructions for remaining steps.
- THICKER: 20-30% thicker than the competition, specialty fiber filter design keep bitter elements, oils, and grounds in their place (and out of your cup)
- Fits all CHEMEX Coffeemakers except CM-1, CM-1C, CM-1GH
